Faloos · Concept 08 · Brand sheet

Banknote

فلوس (faloos) is everyday Arabic for money. This direction dresses Faloos as an engraved banknote: guilloché, foil, microprint, numbering in red and a coin for a logo. Warm and a bit posh, in the way a friend doing a posh voice is posh.

§2

Palette

Ivory paper, engraver's indigo, numbering red and a restrained gold foil. Indigo is the traditional intaglio ink, it carries the app's existing cobalt identity into print, and it holds 12.8:1 on paper.

§5

Motion

  1. Light, not travel

Things catch the light rather than fly about. The foil shimmers, the coin glints, the watermark brightens; the layout stays put.

  2. Phase, not position

Guilloché lines slide between fixed envelopes as you move or scroll. Only a phase changes, so it reads as engraving, never as animation for its own sake.

  3. Printed in passes, once

A note prints the first time you see it: underprint, intaglio, numbering, then the specimen stamp. About two seconds, then it's done.

  4. Stamps press

Confirmations land like a rubber stamp: a short overshoot, 420 ms, and nothing else moves.

  5. Still is designed

With reduced motion the notes arrive finished and settled. Nothing is missing, only the movement.

Move across it (or scroll on a phone): the four ring families counter-rotate in phase, and the foil follows the light.

§6

The guilloché system

Every pattern is generated in code from one rose-engine rule: a periodic line held between an inner and an outer envelope, repeated with its phase advanced. No image files, so it stays sharp and themable, and it can move.

Border lace. The frame of every note. Waves run along the arc length of a rounded rectangle; two families, indigo and red, wavelength 0.82 × band.
Relief underprint. Split-fountain (rainbow) hairlines in sage, slate and rose, displaced by a blurred height map so the denomination swells out of the paper.
Ribbon. Lace on a straight path between two medallions. Its phase flows from your bank to theirs.
Spirograph. Hypotrochoids, a 40-tooth wheel inside a 105-tooth ring: 13 lobes, 8 turns, four pen offsets.
Whorl. A fingerprint as line work: an Archimedean spiral squashed into a fingertip, with seeded ridge breaks and arches below.

App icon proposal

Night: gold coin on indigo with gold lace. The default; it reads on any wallpaper.

Paper: the coin on ivory with indigo lace, like the corner of a note.
